Planet Earth's COVID-19 Travel Insurance FAQs

Planet Earth

Here at Planet Earth Travel Insurance, we understand that this can be a stressful time when it comes to understanding the certainty of your future travel plans.

To help, we have put together a list of the frequently asked questions we have been getting to help you understand any changes to your travel insurance policy at this time.

Can I still buy travel insurance during the coronavirus pandemic?

Yes, you can still buy travel insurance from us at this time for any future trips.

Would my policy cover me for coronavirus/COVID-19?

Your policy will cover you for emergency medical expenses and repatriation if you catch coronavirus/COVID-19 during your insured trip.

So, if you develop COVID-19 while on holiday and need medical assistance, you will be covered provided that you have declared your pre-existing medical conditions to us.

For any other events that might be caused or related to coronavirus/COVID-19, including cancellations, you wouldn’t be covered to make a claim but we might be able to assist you in changing your plans.

What about the government currently advising against travel to my destination?

You can still buy a policy even if the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) currently advise against all, or all but essential travel to your destination. However, your policy would not be valid until the FCO advice changes.

Taking out a policy now will ensure that when the advice does change, you will be protected straight away. You will also be protecting yourself against any future price increases.

You will still need to check the FCO website for travel advice to ensure that your travel insurance policy will be valid for your destination.
